** Preparing the Pieces
and Sewing the Block ** |

Start by marking and cutting the Color 1 and Color 2 2-1/2"
x 5" strips into two 2-1/2" squares of each...
|
|
|
Then cut the Color 1 and Color 2 4-7/8" squares each in
half once on the diagonal to make two half square triangles of each
for the block's corner units...
|
|
|
For the block's corner units, mark and cut the Color 3
4-1/2" x 9" strip into two 4-1/2" squares. Stack the
squares and cut them on both diagonals to make eight quarter square
triangles...
|
|
|
For the top, bottom and side units cut the Color 3 5-1/4"
square in half on both diagonals to make four quarter square
triangles...
|
|
|
Using the template provided cut two "stem" units from Color
1 and two from Color 2, from the 3-1/4" x 3-1/2" strips..
|
|
|
Using the template provides cut four Color 1 and Color 2 trapezoids in
the direction indicated at left from the 2-1/2" x 19-12"
strips...
|
|
|
Sew the Color 1 and Color 2 small squares together to make the
block's center four patch. Trim this back to measure 4-1/2" if
needed...on to Page 2!
