** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

First trace and cut out four triangles of Color 1, and four of Color 3, using the template provided...( or you can paper piece this part)

Then mark and cut the Color 2   2-1/2" x 12-1/2" strip into five 2-1/2' squares...

Next mark and cut the Color 3  2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strip into four 2-7/8" squares. Stack and cut the squares once on the diagonal to make eight half square triangles...

Mark and cut the Color 4  4-7/8" x 9-3/4" strip into two 4-7/8" squares. Stack and cut the squares once on the diagonal to make four half square triangles...

First sew a Color 3 half square triangle to the right side of a Color 2 square, using a SCANT 1/4" seam. Sew another Color 3 half square triangle to the bottom edge of the Color 2 square. Press seam allowances towards the triangles. Make four of these units...

Sew each of the previously made units to a Color 4 half square triangle, pressing seam allowances towards the larger triangles. Make four of these...

Now sew a Color 3 long triangle to a Color 1 long triangle, again using a SCANT 1/4" seam. Press seam allowance towards the darker fabric. Make four of these...
