Sew a Color 3 triangle to one side of the four patch, again using a scant 1/4" seam. Press seam allowance towards the center square. Add another triangle to the opposing side, again pressing towards the inner square. Now add the other two triangles to the remaining two sides of the center square, this time pressing the seams towards the triangles...

 

Now you can join the units to make the block! First make rows, then sew the rows together, and be sure to alternate pressing directions with each addition! 

 

This quilt has a "pillow row" and a body that is four blocks by four blocks, with wider Color 2 side borders and a Color 1 binding.
