** Preparing the Pieces and
Sewing the Block ** |

Start by marking and cutting the Color 1 3-1/2" x 14" strip into four 3-1/2" squares... |

Now mark and cut the Color 1 and Color 2 4-1/4" x 17" strips into four 4-1/4" squares each.
Stack these squares and cut twice on the diagonals, to make sixteen
quarter square triangles of each. You will also need one 6-1/2"
square of Color 2...not shown here... |

To make the quarter squares, sew pairs of quarter
square triangles together, right sides together, as shown at left,
using the standard SCANT 1/4" seam. Press seam allowances
towards darker fabrics. Sew these paired units together, and press
seam to one side... |

Then piece the block! Sew pairs of quarter squares
together, then make rows, using these, the Color 1 squares, and the
large Color 2 center square...on to Page
2! |
