Cut both the Color 1 6-7/8" and 2-7/8" square in half
once on the diagonal to make two half square triangles of each. You
will use only ONE of the larger, and both of the smaller of these...

Now from scraps cut sixteen 2-7/8" half square triangles.
You can make these by cutting 2-7/8" square in half on the
diagonal, or use this
template if you want to cut single triangles from scraps ...

Cut the Color 3 (background) fabric 2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strip
into four 2-7/8" squares. Stack them and cut them in half once on
the diagonal to make eight half square triangles. You only need seven
for this block. Next cut the Color 3 2-1/2" x 13"
strip into two 2-1/2" x 6-1/2" rectangles. Cut the Color
3 4-7/8" square in half once on the diagonal to make two
half square triangles. You only need one for this block...

Make three different half square units using scrap colors sewn to
other scrap colors as shown at top left. Use scant 1/4" seams,
and press to the dark side. Trim to measure 2-1/2" if needed.
Make seven more half square units in the same manner, but using scrap
colors sewn to background colors as shown at bottom left...

Now make half square rows as shown at far left. All rows except
the topmost row have extra scrap half square triangles sewn to the
right ends. Sew the rows together and add the Color 1 lg. half
square triangle. Press seam towards the triangle...on to Page
2!
