Now place a Color 1 square lined
up with, and right sides to a Color 2 rectangle. On the back of the
square, lightly draw in the diagonal line in the direction shown at
left. Sew ON this drawn line. Cut off the excess seam allowance, and
press the remainder towards the rectangle. Repeat this with another
Color 1 square on the other end of the rectangle. Make two of these
flying geese units... |

Sew a Color 1 half square
triangle to the right end of a Color 2 rectangle as shown at top
left. Sew the other triangle to the left end of another Color 2
rectangle. Press seams towards triangles... |

Next, sew a flying geese unit to
the left of the center four patch, again using the same old scant
1/4" seam. Press seam towards the four patch... |

Then sew the remaining Color
2 3 1/2" square to the left end of the other flying geese
unit. Press seam towards the flying geese unit... |

Sew that geese/square unit to
the top of the four patch/geese unit, pressing seam towards the four
patch... |

Add the rectangle/ triangle
units to the bottom and left sides, pressing seams towards the four
