...And then cut the
Color 2 2" x 14" strip into four 2" x 3-1/2" rectangles... |
Finally, cut the
Color 1 2" x 16" strip into eight 2"
squares... |
Sew the single
2" Color 2 and Color 3 squares together as shown to make the center four patch unit,
using scant 1/4" seams. Alternate pressing direction of seams... |
Then stack the
single Color 4 and Color 3 4-1/4" squares, edges aligned, right sides
together. Mark the diagonal, and then sew 1/4" away from the marked line, on both
sides of it, then cut it apart on the marked line. Using a ruler, mark and cut the
resultant triangles on the other diagonal. This will give you four quarter
square-triangles. Repeat this with the other two Color 4 and Color 3 4-1/4" squares. You will only need two from each set.. Save the others for another
project though! The other two will be heading in the wrong direction to use in this
block!... |
Sew each of the
previous units to a Color 2 half square triangle, using the same scant 1/4" seam, and
pressing seam allowances towards large triangle... |
Then, place a Color
1 2" square atop one end of a Color 2 2" x 3-1/2" rectangle, right
sides together. Mark the diagonal, then sew on that marked line. Cut off excess seam
allowance, and press the remainder towards center. Repeat with another 2" Color 1
square on the other end. Make four of these units... |
Now sew each of the
unit you just made to the bottom of a Color2/3/4 unit, as shown. Press seam allowances
towards top units. Make four of these... |
Now piece your corner
nine patches as shown. Alternate pressing directions as you add squares, and by rows. You
will need two of each color combo...on to
