** Preparing the Pieces
and Sewing the Block ** |

Start by marking and cutting the Color 1 4-7/8" x
9-3/4" strip into two 4-7/8" squares. Stack these squares
and cut once on the diagonal to make four half square triangles...
|

Next mark and cut the Color 2 4-1/2" x 18" strip into
four 4-1/2" squares...
|
|
|
Now mark and cut the Color 3 2-1/2" x 10" strip into
four 2-1/2" squares...
|
|
|
Then mark and cut the Color 4 2-7/8" x 11-/2" strip
into four 2-7/8" squares. Stack these, and cut them once on the
diagonal to make eight half square triangles. Also cut one Color
4 4-1/2" square( not shown)...

|
Now sew a Color 4 half square triangle to the left and top of
your Color 3 squares, right sides together, using the standard 1/4" seam allowance, and pressing seams towards triangles. Make
four units like this...

|
Sew each of the pieced triangle units we just made to a Color 1
half square triangle, pressing seam towards the larger triangle...on
to Page 2!
