** Preparing the
Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |
|
|
Start by cutting the Color 1 3-7/8" x
15-1/2" strip into four 3-7/8" squares. Stack these and
cut them in half once on the diagonal to make eight half square
triangles. You only need seven for this block, so save the extra for
another block or project... |
|
|
Now cut the Color 2 3-1/2" x 7" strip
into two 3-1/2" squares. Also cut the Color 2 3-7/8"
x 11-5/8" strip into three 3-7/8" squares. Stack these
squares and cut them once on the diagonal to make six half square
triangles. You only need five for this block, so save the extra for
another block or project... |
|
|
Next, cut the Color 3 3-1/2" x 14"
strip into four 3-1/2" squares. Also cut the Color 3
3-7/8" x 15-1/2" strip into four 3-7/8" squares.
Stack these and cut them in half once on the diagonal to make eight
half square triangles... |
|
|
Using a scant 1/4" seam allowance, sew together
pairs of half square triangles right sides together. Make three
using Color 2 and Color 3, make five using Color 1 and Color 3
and make two using Color 1 and Color 2. Press seam to darker side.
These should measure 3-1/2" when sewn; trim if needed... on to Page
