** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Using the template provided, cut eight different trapezoids from 2-1/2" x 7-1/2" strips...

Cut four traps from the Color 2 and Color 3  5" x 14"strips. Cut the Color 2 and Color 3  4-3/4" squares in half on both diagonals to get four quarter square triangles from each...

To make one segment of the block, sew a Color 2 trap to a Print trap, right sides together, and using a 1/4" seam, starting the seam 1/4" from the left, backstitching at the beginning of the seam to secure it. Press seam to darker side...
Now sew a Color 3 quarter square triangle to the top trap, starting at the outer edge, and stopping 1/4" from the tip of the triangle, backstitching at the stopping point to secure. Press seam towards trap. Now FOLD the section right sides together to line up the remaining un-sewn seam. Insert the needle at the previous stopping point, and stitch to edge, backstitching at the beginning to secure the center. Press seam towards trap. Make seven more units like this, using block drawing at top of page for color orientation/location...on to Page 2!
