My grandmother taught me to sew when
I was 12 years old and I remember watching her quilt around her huge
frame. I made my first quilts in
the 70s and then was sidetracked with kids and jobs. I rediscovered
quilting with a vengeance in the late 1990s. Since then, I've made
numerous quilts and other projects. You can see some of my work at http://www.denebir.com/quilts
or on my quilting/knitting blog at
http://denebir.blogspot.com.
Sometimes I think my unfinished project pile is multiplying in my sleep
(but I suspect most of you know about
mutant UFO piles). Seems every time I go to the Houston Quilt
Festival I come home with more projects than I can complete during the
upcoming year. I've recently moved into an attic space and am
creating my crafting studio with all my machines in one place. I
currently sew on Bernina's - a 730 and 153. I enjoy traditional
piecing but sometimes dabble in machine embroidery and contemporary
techniques.
My other passions in life are reading, the Internet, and sock knitting.
My yarn stash is rivaling my fabric stash! I'm also an avid traveler
- my husband works in many overseas locations and I look forward to
joining him on some of his trips.
Wishing y'all happy quilting!
