This makes a 9" block! This one is very fast and versatile! It's great in ginghams and solids in pink or blue if you know the gender of the baby in question, or green or brights...or...anything you like!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by marking and cutting the Color 1  7" square into four 3-1/2 squares...

Then mark and cut the Color 2  3-1/2" x 7" strip into two 3-1/2" squares...

Now mark and cut the Color 1 and Color 2  4-1/4" x 8-1/2" strips into two 4-1/4" square of each. Stack these and cut them twice on the diagonal to make eight quarter square triangles of each. You will only need six of each so save these others for another time...

Sew pairs of quarter square triangles together to make the units shown at far left, using a 1/4" seam. Join them to make quarter squares. You need five. These should measure 3-1/2" ...on to Page 2!
