This makes a 9" block!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** 

Sew two Color 4 and one Color 1  1-1/2" x 6" strips together as shown at far left, using a 1/4" seam and pressing seams towards the darker strip. Mark and cut this at 1-1/2" intervals...

Now sew together two Color 1  and one Color 4  1-1/2" x 3" strips as shown at far left, using a 1/4" seam and pressing seams towards the darker strips. Mark and cut this at 1-1/2" intervals...

 Repeat this process with two Color 2 and one Color 4  1-1/2" x 6" strips, and with one Color 2  and two Color 4  1-1/2" x 3" strips...

 From the Color1/Color4 units, make two of the nine patches shown at left...

 From the Color2/Color4 units, make two of the nine patches shown at left...

 Now sew together two Color 3  1-1/4" x 14" strips and one Color 4  2" x 14" strip, again using that same 1/4" seam and pressing seams towards the darker strips. Mark and cut this at 3-1/2" intervals...

Next cut the Color 4  2-3/4" square in half on both diagonals to get four quarter square triangles...

Mark and cut the Color 3  1-5/8" x 9" strip into four  1-5/8" x 2-1/4" rectangles....on to Page 2!
