** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Using the templates provided cut four corner squares and four side shapes, adding seam allowances before you cut, from a Color 1  8" x 18" rectangle...

Again using the templates cut four left facing triangles and four right facing triangles and one center square from a Color 2  3-1/2" x 18" strip...( add seam allowances to these too!)

Cut the Color 2  5-3/4" x 11-1/2" strip into eight 2-7/8" squares. Stack these and cut them once on the diagonal to make sixteen half square triangles...

Using a 1/4" seam allowance, sew left and right facing triangles to each of the top slanted edges of the side units. These should measure 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" ...

Now sew Color 2 half square triangles to opposing sides of each Color 1 corner square. Press seams towards triangles. Add triangles to the adjacent sides, again pressing seams towards triangles. These should measure 4-1/2" ...  on to Page 2!
