This makes a 16" block!...just right for a medium to large floral, with a tone on tone and light background to set that off...

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Cut the Color 3  5" x 18" strip into eight 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles...

Cut the Color 1  2-1/2" x 15" strip into six 2-1/2" squares...

Now sew the Color 1 and Color 2  2-1/2" x 20" strips right sides together along one long edge, using a 1/4" seam allowance. Press to the dark side, then cut at 2-1/2" intervals to make eight pieced units. Sew pairs of these together to make a Four Patch...you need four of these...

Place the Color 1 and Color 2  2-7/8" squares right sides together and all edges aligned. On the back of the top square draw in the diagonal. Sew 1/4" away from the draw line on both sides. Cut apart on the drawn line. Press to darker sides.  This will give you two half squares. These should measure 2-1/2".

Now stack the Color 1 and Color 2  4-7/8" x 14-5/8" strips. Cut them into three 4-7/8" squares of each. Stack the squares and cut them once on the diagonal to make six half square triangles of each. Pair them and make six half squares. These should measure 4-1/2"...

To make the upper left and lower right units, sew together two Four Patch units and two half squares. Make two units like this... on to Page 2!
