** Preparing the Pieces
and Sewing the Block ** |

Start by cutting the Color 1 and Color 2 1-1/2" x
13-1/2" strips into nine 1-1/2" squares of each. Cut the
Color 3 3" x 9" strip into twelve 1-1/2"
squares...

Now cut the Color 3 1-1/2" x 14" strip into four
1-1/2" 3-1/2" rectangles. Cut the Color 3 1-1/2"
x 10" strip into four 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" rectangles. Cut
the Color 3 5-1/2" x 11" strip into two 5-1/2"
squares...

Using 1/4" seams now and throughout the block making, sew
two "X" units as shown at left, one using Color 1 and one
using Color 2...

Now piece the block as shown at left, and it's done! Good job!
