** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** 

For each block you want to make, cut three 4-1/2" squares, and six half square triangles (cut from 4-7/8" squares) ...

Mark and cut a 4-7/8" x 14-5/8" strip of background fabric into three 4-7/8" squares. Stack these squares and cut them once on the diagonal to get six half square triangles...

Sew each of the print half square triangles to a background half square triangle, using a 1/4" seam. Press the seam to the darker side. These should measure 4-1/2"...

Lay out all your units as shown at left, and stitch together into three horizontal rows. Press row seams in alternating directions. Sew the rows together, and you are done!
