** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by marking and cutting the Color 1  5-1/4" x 15-3/4" strip into three 5-1/4" squares. Stack these squares and cut them on the diagonal. Stack the resulting triangles and cut them on the other diagonal to get twelve quarter square triangles...

 

 

Next cut the Color 2  5- 1/4" square on the diagonal. Stack the resulting triangles and cut on the other diagonal to get four quarter square triangles...

 

 

Now mark and cut the Color 2  4-1/2" x 22-1/2" strip into five 4-1/2" squares...

 

Fold the Color 1  1" x 7" strip in half  lengthwise, right sides together. Stitch a 1/4" seam along it's length to make a tube. Turn this right side out, and press so that the seam line is centered in the back...
