This makes a 9" block ! A Fat Quarter of the main fabric is plenty, and it's in honor of the Great Gang at quilting.about.com., my friends!

This is an original pattern. Please abide by the Terms and Conditions of use! :o)

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by marking and cutting the Color 1  2-1/2" x 10" strip into four 2-1/2" squares. Mark and cut the Color 1  2-7/8" x 5-3/4" strip into two 2-7/8" squares. Stack the 2-7/8" squares and cut them once on the diagonal to make four half square triangles. Now cut the Color 1  3-1/4" square in half on both diagonals to make four quarter square triangles...

Next cut the Color 2  3-1/4" square in half on both diagonals to make four quarter square triangles. Mark and cut the Color 2  8" x 5" strip into eight 2" x 2-1/2" rectangles...

Using a 1/4" seam, sew Color 1 and Color 2  quarter square triangles together as shown at far left. Press seam to dark side. Sew a Color 1 half square triangle to the qsts. Press seam towards half square triangle. Make four units like this. Trim to measure 2-1/2" if needed...

Sew two rows as shown at top left, using a 1/4" seam allowance, and pressing seams towards darker fabrics...

Now sew two rows as shown at top left, again using 1/4" seams, and pressing to darker side...on to Page 2!
