This makes a 12" block!

It'll help clear out the old Scrap Basket so you can go buy more fabric! (grin)

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Cut thirty-two random 2" squares from scraps.( Not Shown)

Cut the Color 2  3-1/2" x 28" strip into eight 3-1/2" squares.

Cut the Color 3  7" x 13" strip into four 3-1/2" x 6-1/2" rectangles...

From your 2" scrap squares sew four Four Patch units, using 1/4" seams. Press seams to darker sides. These units should measure 3-1/2"...

Sew one sixteen patch unit. This should measure 6-1/2"...

Now, to make one side unit, place a Color 2 square right sides together atop a Color 3 rectangle, with outer edges aligned. (I show them staggered here just so you can see what pieces I am referring to.) On the back of the top square lightly mark the diagonal. Sew ON this diagonal marking. Cut off the excess seam allowance. Press the remainder towards the corner. Repeat this with another Color 2 square on the other end of the rectangle, sewing in a parallel direction to the first sewn seam. Make two of these in the same manner. Make two in the opposite direction. They should measure 3-1/2" x 6-1/2"...on to Page 2!
