This makes a 12" block, and is paper pieced!

The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try the Stars and Diamonds Block! You will need to print out four copies of each of the two units needed per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. A Fat Quarter of each fabric will be fine!

After you have paper pieced all the units needed, begin assembling them as shown at left. Make four units like this. Then join the four units to make the block! 

The quilt shown here is four blocks by five, with a 3" white border, then a 3" border made from half squares, and the whole thing is then bound in red!
