This makes an 8" block and is part regular piecing, part paper piecing!

This is an original pattern. Please abide by the Terms and Conditions of use! :o)

The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Starry Ways block! You will need to print out one copy of the template page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper.

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Cut the Color 3  2-1/2" x 10" strip into four 2-1/2" squares...

Stack the Color 2 and Color 3  2-7/8" x 5-3/4" strips and cut into two 2-7/8" squares of each. Stack the squares and cut once on the diagonal to make four half square triangles of each. Sew together pairs of these triangles using a 1/4" seam. Press to darker side. These should measure 2-1/2"...

Now sew together squares and half squares to make two of the units shown at left...

Paper piece the two alternate corner units, then sew the four units together as shown at left. Your block is done! :o) ...on to Page 2!
