** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |
|
|
Start by cutting the Color 1 3-1/2" x 7" strip into two 3-1/2" squares. Cut the Color 1 3-7/8" square in half once on the diagonal to make two half square triangles... |

Use the templates provided to cut two trapezoids from the Color 2 and Color 3 3-3/4" x 19-1/4" strips...*note the directions these are cut in!* |

Now cut the Color 4 3-1/2" x 7" strip into two 3-1/2" squares. Cut the Color 5 3-7/8" square in half once on the diagonal to make two half square triangles... |

Sew the Color 1/Color 5 half square triangles right sides together in pairs, using a 1/4" seam, making two half square units. Press to darker side. These should measure 3-1/2"... |

Lay out the half squares and Color 4 squares as shown at left and sew together to make the block's center unit... |

|
Sew Color 1 3-1/2"squares to the square ends of the two Color 2 trapezoids. Press seams to dark side...on to Page 2! |
