The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Salt Lake City Block! You will need to print out one copy of each template page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. You will also need one 4-1/2" square for the block's center. A Fat quarter of each fabric is plenty!

After your units are paper pieced. Join the middle vertical row units with the center 4-1/2" square. Then sew on the side units, and this block is done!

The quilt shows Nine Salt Lake City Blocks, alternated with hourglass blocks in the center, and with side and corner triangles to square it off. A checkerboard border surrounds it all :o)

Happy Quilting!
