** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

 

 

Cut the Color 1  1-1/2" x 16" strip into four 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" rectangles and four 1-1/2" squares...

 

 

Cut the Color 2  1-1/2" x 16" strip into four 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" rectangles and four 1-1/2" squares...

 

 

Cut the Color 3  1-1/2" x 16" strip into four 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" rectangles and four 1-1/2" squares...

 

Now cut the Color 4  3" x 18" strip into four 1-1/2" x 5-1/2" rectangles and four 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" rectangles. Cut the Color 4  3" x 6" strip into eight 1-1/2" squares. You can cut all of those from one 3" x 24" strip of fabric if you prefer...

 

 

Using all 1/4" seam allowances now and throughout the block construction, sew Color 1  1-1/2" x 2-1/2" rectangles to each end of two Color 4  1-1/2" x 5-1/2" rectangles. Press to dark sides. These are Unit F...on to Page 2!
