and is another of those "method" things, rather than an

In the late 1850's this was done with cross shaped
units done with set-in seams. I've taken the struggle out of that
in order to make it easier to piece! To accomplish this quilt, you
need Graph Paper and colored pencils, as you will want to plan it
all out ahead of time, hence the name...Planned Patchhood!
:o) For each color in the quilt you will need one, four or
five squares, all the same size... |

Here's a quilt layout chart you can follow to draw up
your own graph paper version. Darkened lines show where one
"Block's worth" is. White squares on the edges will be a
different color than those bordering it...If you would like to see

Once you have done all the planning, start sewing the
squares together in blocks as shown at left. This would be the upper
left block. You may want to label the blocks as you complete them to
make it easier assembling them into rows... ...
