** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Cut the Color 2  2-3/4" square in half on both diagonals to make four quarter square triangles. Then cut the Color 2  2-7/8" x 5-3/4" strip into two 2-7/8" squares. Stack the squares and cut them once on the diagonal to make four half square triangles...

Now cut the Color 3  2-3/8" x 9-1/2" strip into four 2-3/8" squares. Stack the squares and cut them once on the diagonal to make eight half square triangles...

Next, using the template provided cut four units from the Color 4  4" x 14" strip...

Cut the Color 1  4-1/4" x 8-1/2" strip into two 4-1/4" squares. Stack the squares and cut them once on each diagonal to make eight quarter square triangles.  Then cut the Color 2 and Color 4  4-1/4" squares each in half on both diagonals to make four quarter square triangles from each. Now, using scant 1/4" seam allowances sew these quarter square triangles together to make four of the side units shown at left. These should measure 3-1/2" when complete, so trim if needed...

Next lightly crease the Color 2  half square triangles, the Color 4 template units, and four of the Color 3 half square triangles to find the mid way points. Matching these up, and again using a scant 1/4" seam allowance, sew four of the corner units shown at left. These should also measure 3-1/2" when complete, so trim if needed...on to Page 2!
