Here's an EASY version of an old
block, traditionally done with parallelograms and set in seams...It's a
12" block! |

** Preparing the
Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |
|

First mark and cut the Color 1 and Color 2 3-7/8" x 7-3/4" strips into two 3-7/8" squares of each. Stack these and cut
on the diagonal once to make four half square triangles of each... |

Then mark and cut the Color 3 and Color 4 3-7/8 x 15-1/2" strips into four 3-7/8" squares of each. Stack these and cut on
the diagonal once to make eight half square triangles of each... |

Now mark and cut the Color 4 3-1/2" x
14" strip into four 3-1/2" squares... |

Make half squares as shown at left, using 1/4" seams. The numbers you need of each color combination are shown at left. Press
seam allowances towards the darker fabrics... |

Next make rows, in the order shown at left. Press
all the seam allowances in one direction for the first row, the opposite for the second
row, etc. Sew the rows together to make the block!...on to Page
