** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Cut the Color 1 and Color 2  3-7/8" x 15-1/2" strips into four 3-7/8" squares of each. Stack these and cut    them once on the diagonal to make eight of each color...

Cut the Color 1 and Color 2  6-7/8" squares in half once on the diagonal to make two half square triangles of each...

Sew the small half square triangles together in pairs as shown at left, using a 1/4" seam allowance (now and throughout the block making). Press seams to darker sides. These should measure 3-1/2" . Make eight units like this...

Next sew the large half square triangles together in pairs as shown at left. Press seams to darker sides. These should measure 6-1/2" . Make two units like this...

To make the upper left and lower right corner units, sew together four small half squares as shown at left. You will be making two of these... on to Page 2!
