This makes a 9" block!

Once when I was quite young I was lying outside at my camp at night, and absolutely EVERYWHERE...there were moths...this quilt is of that memory :o)

This is an original pattern. Please abide by the Terms and Conditions of use! :o)

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

First cut the Color 1  2" x 12" strip into six  2" squares.  Now cut the Color 1  2-3/8" x 7-1/8" strip into three 2-3/8" squares. Stack these and cut them once on the diagonal to make six half square triangles...

Cut the Color 2  3-7/8" x 7-3/4" strip into two 3-7/8" squares. Stack these and cut them once on the diagonal to make four half square triangles...

Then cut the Color 3  2" x 4" strip into two 2" squares. Cut the Color 3  2-3/8" x 7-1/8" strip into three 2-3/8" squares. Stack these and cut them once on the diagonal to make six half square triangles...

Next, from six DIFFERENT dark blue fabrics, cut four 3-7/8" half square triangles, and two 3-1/2" squares...

Sew the Color 2 half square triangles to the Color 4, 5, 6 + 9 blue half square triangles...right sides together and using a scant 1/4" seam allowance. Press each to the darker side. Trim to measure  3-1/2" if needed...

Sew the Color 1 and Color 2 half square triangles right sides together using a scant 1/4" seam allowance. Make six of these. Press seams to darker sides. Trim each to measure 2" if needed. Now sew three of the units shown at bottom left, using the half squares we just made and the Color 1 2" squares...on to Page 2!
