Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |
Start by sewing a Color 1 2-1/2" x 20" strip to
a Color 2 strip of the same length, right sides together, along one long edge using a
scant 1/4" seam. Press seam allowance towards the darker fabric. Add another Color 1
strip to the bottom. Then mark and cut this new unit at 2-1/2" intervals... |
Next sew a Color 1 2-1/2" x 12-1/2" strip to a Color 2 strip of the same length, again along the
bottom long edge, and add another Color 1 strip to the other side of the Color 2
strip. Cut this into 2-1/2"segments...
Then sew a Color 1 2-1/2" x 5" strip to a Color 2 strip of the same length, and add another Color 2
strip to the bottom of that and divide into two 2-1/2"segments...
Now make the nine patch
units! Make FOUR of the first grouping, and ONE of the second grouping.
Remember to press
seam allowances in alternating directions!...
