** Preparing the
Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |
To begin, using
your handy dandy rotary cutter, cut your Color 1 4-1/2" x
18" strip into four 4-1/2"
squares... |
Next, cut the Color
2 5" x 18" strip into eight 2-1/2" x 4-1/2"
rectangles... |
Then cut the Color
3 5" x 10" strip into eight 2-1/2" squares... |
Now, to make one flying geese unit, place a Color 3
small square right sides together atop a Color 2 rectangle, with edges
aligned. On the back of the top square lightly mark the diagonal. Sew
ON this diagonal marking. Cut off the excess seam allowance. Press the
remainder towards the triangle. Repeat this with another Color 1
square on the other end of the rectangle. Make all of the geese in the
same manner... |
Sew each flying geese unit to a color 2 rectangle as
shown at left... |
Lay out all units as shown at left with
the extra Color 3 4-1/2" square as the center. Sew three
horizontal rows. Join the rows to finish off the block! ...on to Page
2! |
