** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Using the templates provided, cut four corner triangles from a Color 3  7" x 14-1/2" strip... (or if you prefer, cut two 6-7/8" squares and cut each in half once)

Cut four trapezoids from a Color 1  2-1/4" x 41" strip

Cut two center squares from a Color 2 and a Color 4  3-1/2" x 7-1/2" strip...

Sew each corner half square triangle to a Color 1 trapezoid, using a scant 1/4" seam. Press seam towards trap. Make four of these...

Sew the Color 2 and Color 4 squares together to make the center four patch. Press seams towards the darker side...

Now sew the corner units to the center four patch, in a 1/4" seam that starts and stops 1/4" away from the end of the seam line. Backstitch at beginning and end of this seam. Shown here is the lower right corner being sewn on; next do the opposite corner, then the two remaining corners... on to Page 2!
