Free Trade Block - Page 2

To make the large flying geese units, place a Color 1  4-1/2" square right sides together against one end of a Color 2 large rectangle. On the back of the square, lightly draw in the diagonal, and sew ON this drawn line. Cut of the excess seam allowance and press the remainder towards the corner triangle. Repeat this with another 4 1/2" Color 1 square on the other end of the rectangle. Make four units like this. Also make four small flying geese units using the Color 1  2-12" squares, and the Color 2  2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles, following the same method...

Piece the block's center, using small Color 2 squares, the small flying geese, and one of the five four patch units...

Then piece the whole block, as shown at left, using the extra four patches, and the large flying geese units! Scant 1/4" seams are used throughout.  Not so tough, was it?!...on to Page 3!
