This makes a 12" block! and has NOTHING to do with Watermelons ...but on the day I am starting this pattern, we have just had our first Very Warm Day , and that has EVERYTHING to do with Watermelon!

It's another very old quilt block and very nice when done in two contrasting colors, but don't limit yourself to that! :o)

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Stack the fabric one and two strips right sides together and all edges aligned. Cut these at the 3-7/8" points to make a total of eight 3-7/8" squares of each ...

Cut these resulting squares apart on the diagonal with a rotary cutter...

Pair each color one triangle with a color two triangle, and stitch, right sides together, using a scant 1/4" seam...press seam allowances towards darker side...
Piece your squares in the order shown at left ,using scant 1/4" seams. Press seams in alternating directions by row. Piece rows in order shown ... and you are done!! ...now on to Page 2!
