** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by marking and cutting the Color 1  2" x 8" strip into four 2" squares...

Next cut the Color 3  2" x 8" strip into four 2" squares...

Now cut the Color 2  2-3/8" x 9-1/2" strip into four 2-3/8" squares. Stack these squares and cut them once on the diagonal...

Then cut the Color 3  2-3/8" x 9-1/2" strip into four 2-3/8" squares. Stack these squares and cut them once on the diagonal...

Sew two Color 1, two Color 3 and one Color 2  2" x 8" strips together along the long edges to make the unit shown at far left. Press seams towards the darker fabrics. Mark and cut this at 2" intervals...

Then sew two Color 1, two Color 2 and one Color 3  2" x 8" strips together along the long edges to make the unit shown at far left. Press seams towards the darker fabrics. Mark and cut this at 2" intervals...

Next sew three Color 1, and two Color 2   2" x 4" strips together along the long edges to make the unit shown at far left. Press seams towards the darker fabrics. Mark and cut this at 2" intervals...

Sew all of the previously made strip units into the unit you see at left, using( as always!) a scant 1/4' seam, and pressing seams towards the darker fabrics. Make two of these units...

Now sew two Color 2 half square triangles (the ones you cut from 2-3/8" squares) to the top and right of the two Color 1  2" squares. Do the same with two Color 3 half squares triangles and the Color 3  2" squares. Make four of each of those units...on to Page 2!
