** Preparing the Pieces
and Sewing the Block ** |

Start by cutting two Color 1 side/middle triangles, one center square
and four parallelograms from one quarter yard by width of fabric. ( I
show it cut from two chunks of cloth here, just as it was easier to
draw this way, but you can cut it more efficiently!)

Then cut four corner triangles and six Side/Middle triangles from one
quarter yard by width of fabric. ( Again, I show it cut from two
chunks of cloth here, just as it was easier to draw this way, but you
can cut it more efficiently!)

To sew the block's vertical side strips, sew parallelograms to each
sort side of a side triangle, using scant 1/4" seams, and
pressing towards the darker fabric. Then add corner triangles to each
end, pressing to the dark side. Make two units like this; the second
will be a mirror image of this one. Trim these off to measure
3-1/2" x 12-1/2"...on to Page 2!
