** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** 

Using the template provided cut one center square from a 4" Color 3 square...

Cut the Color 1 and Color 2  2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strips into four 2-7/8" squares of each. Stack these and cut them once on the diagonal to make eight half square triangles of each. Using a scant 1/4" seam, sew these together in pairs to make eight half squares. Press seams to darker side. Trim to measure 2-1/2" if needed...

Cut the Color 1 and Color 2  3-1/4" x 6-1/2" strips into two 3-1/4" squares of each. Stack them and cut them in half on both diagonals to make eight quarter square triangles of each. Sew theses together in pairs as shown at bottom left, pressing to the dark side. Make eight units like this...
Sew two of the pieced triangles we just made in the step above to opposite sides of the center square. Now add two more to the adjacent sides...

Sew the half squares made in step two together in pairs as shown at left. Make four units like this...on to Page 2!
