Eight Hands Round - Page 2

Stack a Color 2  3-1/2" square right sides together atop the left end of a Color 1  3-1/2" x 6-1/2" rectangle. On the back of the square, mark the diagonal. Sew ON this diagonal line. Cut off the excess seam allowance; press the remainder towards the rectangle. Repeat this same procedure with a Color 3  3-1/2" square on the other end of the rectangle. Make two rectangles of this same color arrangement. Make two more in the same manner using a Color 2 rectangle and two Color 1 squares. Trim these back to 3-1/2" x 6-1/2" if needed...

Now assemble the center star unit using the image at left as a placement and direction guide. The square in its center is the Color 2 extra 3-1/2" square...

Now it is time to piece the block ! First ,make rows, and then sew the rows together to make the block. Be sure to alternate pressing directions by row to avoid having bulky seams!
