** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** 

 

 

Start by cutting the Color 1 and Color 3  3-7/8" x  15-1/2" strips into four 3-7/8" squares of each. Stack these and cut them in half once on the diagonal to make eight half square triangles of each...

 

 

Sew the Color 1 and Color 3 half square triangles right sides together in pairs as shown at left, using a scant 1/4" seam. Press seams to the darker sides. Trim these back to measure 3-1/2" if needed. Make eight units like this...

 

 

Now lay out all the block's units as shown at left, with the Color 2 square at center. Sew three horizontal rows. Press the row seams in alternating directions. Join the rows, and you are done!... on to Page 2!
