I show other possible arrangements below, which would  instead use a 2nd set of temps!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

First, using the first set of templates provided, cut out eight arc shapes from the Color 1  6" x 12" rectangle, and eight square corner shapes from the Color 2  9" x 20" rectangle...

The mark and cut the Color 2  5" x 20" strip into sixteen 2-1/2" squares...

Now speed piece the half squares by stacking the Color 1 and Color 2  2-7/8" x 23" strips, right sides together and all edges aligned. On the back of the top strip, lightly mark the 2-7/8" square lines, and then mark in the diagonals as shown at left. Now sew a SCANT 1/4" above and below the marked diagonals, pivoting at the square lines. Cut apart on the square lines and on the marked diagonals between the rows of stitching. This gives you sixteen half squares. Press seams to the dark side. Trim each of these back to 2-1/2" if needed...on to Page 2!
