** Preparing the Pieces
and Sewing the Block ** |
Start by marking and cutting the Color 1 2-1/2" x 10" strip
into four 2-1/2" squares. Then mark and cut the Color 1
2-7/8" x 17-1/4" strip into six 2-7/8" squares. Stack
these 2-7/8" squares and cut once on the diagonal to make twelve
half square triangles...
Now mark and cut the Color 2 5" x 30" strip into
twenty 2-1/2' squares. Next mark and cut the Color 2
2-7/8" x 17-1/4" strip into six 2-7/8" squares. Stack
these 2-7/8" squares and cut once on the diagonal to make twelve
half square triangles...
Sew pairs of half square triangles right sides together along the
diagonal. Press seams to the darker side. Trim these back to measure
2-1/2" if needed. Make twelve of these half squares...
Now, using the units we just made and cut...sew rows as shown at left,
always using a standard scant 1/4" seam. Press seams in
alternating directions by row! Wasn't that an nice and easy one??!
