** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |

Start by marking and cutting the Color 1 2-1/2" x 10" strip into four 2-1/2" squares. Then mark and cut the Color 1 2-7/8" x 17-1/4" strip into six 2-7/8" squares. Stack these 2-7/8" squares and cut once on the diagonal to make twelve half square triangles... |

Now mark and cut the Color 2 5" x 30" strip into twenty 2-1/2' squares. Next mark and cut the Color 2 2-7/8" x 17-1/4" strip into six 2-7/8" squares. Stack these 2-7/8" squares and cut once on the diagonal to make twelve half square triangles... |

Sew pairs of half square triangles right sides together along the diagonal. Press seams to the darker side. Trim these back to measure 2-1/2" if needed. Make twelve of these half squares... |

Now, using the units we just made and cut...sew rows as shown at left, always using a standard scant 1/4" seam. Press seams in alternating directions by row! Wasn't that an nice and easy one??! |
