Next sew together one Color 3 and one Color 4  1-1/2" x 15" strip along the long edges, in a scant 1/4" seam, as shown at left. Press seams towards darker fabric. Mark and cut this at 1-1/2" intervals, yielding ten units. Sew these together to make four patches as shown at lower left. Make five units like this...
 

 Sew the Color 2 and Color 4  3-1/4" quarter square triangles together in pairs as shown at left. Press seams to dark sides. Make four units like this...

 

In the same manner, using the Color 3 and Color 4   4-1/4" quarter square triangles, make four each of the units shown at left. Note*..the Color orientation is different!...
 To each of the smaller quarter square units, sew a Color 2  2-7/8" half square triangle, pressing seams towards the half square triangle. Make four units like this in total...

 

 

Now lay out all the units shown at left. Sew these together, first into three horizontal rows, pressing the top and bottom row seams to the center, and the middle row seam to the outside. Now join the rows to make the block's center unit...

 

Now sew a Color 1 half square triangle to the Color 3 pieced quarter square units, again pressing seam towards the half square triangle. Make eight units like this. Join them in pairs as shown at lower left...

 

Finally! Lay out all the units as shown at left. Sew side units to the left and right of the center unit, pressing seams towards the outsides. Sew two rows as shown at top/bottom left, pressing those seams to the center. Join the rows, and YOU'VE DONE IT!            ...on to Page 3!
