This makes an 18" block!

I show here how to make ONE nine patch; you need to make five for the whole block!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by cutting the Color 1  2-1/2" x 10" strip into two 2-1/2" x 5" rectangles. Cut one Color 2   2-1/2" x 5" rectangle...

Then cut two Color 1  2-1/2" squares, and one Color 2  2-1/2" square...

Next cut the Color 2  6-1/2" x 26" strip into four 6-1/2" squares...

Sew the three smaller squares together as shown at left, using all SCANT 1/4" seams. Press seams towards middle fabric...

Now sew a Color 2 rectangle to a Color 1 rectangle, right sides together and all edges even, using that same SCANT 1/4" seam. Add another Color 1 rectangle to the bottom of that. Press seams towards the outer rectangles. Cut this into two strips at the 2-1/2" mark...

Join the three nine patch strips as shown at left. You will need to make four more units like this, using your choice of colors! ...on to Page 2!
