Sew each half square/ square unit to a rectangle unit as shown at left...

Then piece the block, by sewing the four quadrants together! Congratulations!! :o) 

To make this quilt, I replaced the background white with three different shades of tan-a medium dark(1), a light(2), and a very pale(3)! Then I added a star sashing, which is done in the same way as your rectangle units within this block-just cut squares the same width as your sashing strips, and sew them on the ends of your block length sashing strips!
