This makes a 12" block and is part regular piecing, part paper piecing!

The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Diamond Chain Block! You will need to print out two copies of the template A page, and one copy of the template B page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. Fat Quarters will be fine for this!

Start by cutting the Color 1  2-1/2" x 12-1/2" strip into five 2-1/2" squares. Mark and cut the Color 2  2-1/2" x 10" strip into four 2-1/2" squares...

Sew these squares into a nine patch as shown at left, using the standard scant 1/4" seams, and pressing rows in alternating directions. This unit should measure 6-1/2" square...

Now do your paper piecing and sew two A units as shown at left...

Then sew one B unit as shown at left...on to Page 2!
