This makes a 20" block and is partly paper pieced!

The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Darting Minnows Block! You will need to print out four copies of the template page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. You also need four 8-1/2" background squares and one 4-1/2" background square. Fat Quarters will be fine!

 After your units are all paper pieced, lay them out as shown at left. Use the 8-1/2" background squares in the corners, and the 4-1/2" background square in the center. Sew three horizontal rows. Join the rows to complete your block!

Here on its side is a four block by five block idea of what your quilt may look like. There's lots of great quilting space in this one!
