This makes a 12" block and is mostly paper pieced ! It can be done with regular piecing, using 2-7/8" half square triangles to make the half squares!

The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Cut Glass Dish Block! You will need to print out three copies of the template page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. You will also need one white 4-1/2" x 13-1/2" strip. A Fat Quarter of each fabric should be plenty! FQ's will be fine!

First cut the white strip into three squares. Paper piece the half square strips and sew pairs of these together to make the units shown at left. Sew together the pieced units and the white squares to finish the block!

Here on its side is a quilt of four blocks by five, with binding. Every other block is turned a quarter turn.

Happy Quilting Folks!
