This makes a 16" block , and is actually the more common Crow's Feet design, with a corner variation!

A different layout is here!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by cutting the Color 1  4-1/2" x 18" strip into four 4-1/2" squares. Next cut the Color 1  2-1/2" x 20" strip into eight 2-1/2" squares. Now cut the Color 1  2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strip into four 2-7/8" squares...

Cut the Color 2  4-7/8" x 9-3/4" strip into two 4-7/8" squares. Now cut the Color 2  2-1/2" x 20" strip into eight 2-1/2" squares. Next cut the Color 2  2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strip into four 2-7/8" squares...

Now cut the Color 3  4-7/8" x 9-3/4" strip into two 4-7/8" squares. Then cut the Color 3  2-1/2" x 10" strip into four 2-1/2" squares...

 Next cut the Color 4  2-1/2" x 18" strip into four 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles. Lastly, cut the Color 4  2-1/2" x 20" strip into eight 2-1/2" squares...

Time to speed piece the half squares! To make the larger half square units, stack a Color 2 and Color 3  4-7/8" square right sides together and all edges aligned. On the back of the top square lightly draw in the diagonal, then sew a scant 1/4" inch away from that line on both sides of it. Cut apart ON the drawn line between the rows of stitching to get two large half squares. Press seams to the darker side, and trim to measure 4-1/2" if needed. Make four of these larger half square units in the same way. Then make eight small half square units in the same manner, using the Color 1 and Color 2  2-7/8" squares. Again press to the darker side, and trim each of those to measure 2-1/2" if needed...on to Page 2!
