First cut the Color 2 3-1/2" x 17-1/2" strip into five 3-1/2" squares, and the Color 1
3-1/2" x 14" strips into four 3-1/2" squares ... |
|
 |
Next, speed piece the half squares, by
stacking the Color 1 and Color 2 3-7/8" x 31" strips right sides together.
On the back of the top strip mark the 3-7/8" square lines and the diagonals
in the direction shown at left. Then sew above and below the marked
diagonals, using a scant 1/4" seam, pivoting at the 3 7/8" square lines.
Now cut apart ON the
marked diagonals, and on the 3-7/8" square lines as well. Press towards the
darker fabrics. Trim to measure 3-1/2" if needed... |

|
|
Now piece the block by
first making rows and then sewing these rows together to make the block.
As always, all
seams need to be a SCANT 1/4" wide, and seam pressing directions need to be in
alternating directions by row to avoid bulky seams!...
